Knitting Needles: 11 (3.00 mm UK Size) number straight needles.
Optional materials include a measuring tape, cable needle, scissors, and a darning needle.

Beginners Knit Purl Hat size: Adult (To fit head circumference: 21-22”/23-24”, Length from brim to top: approximately 9”.
Skills: Beginner.
Skills used in the pattern: Casting On, 2 rows repeat knit purl stitches pattern, 2X2 Rib sts (For Border), Decreases & Sewing Together a Seam.
Cast on: 122 sts.
Knit a 2×2 Rib Stitch Border for a Perfect Hat Edge
This hat has a simple 2×2 rib stitch border. You cannot add any other borders to this hat as we need to continue with this design. To enhance the look of the hat, you should make the border a bit longer. The border can be 2 to 3 inches longer. The pattern for the border is given below.
Row 1 (RS) – SL1 (P), * K2, P2 * repeat from * to * ……………. last sts P1
Row 2 (WS) – SL1 (P), * K2, P2 * repeat from * to * ……………. last sts P1
Repeat these 2 rows to complete a 2-inch border. I have knitted 20 rows for the border.

For the body part of the hat, you need to knit both the knit and purl stitches, but here the design will be slightly different from the border. To knit the pattern, you will need stitches in multiples of 8. The pattern for the design is given below.

Repeat these 2 rows and complete a total length of 8.5 inches (2-inch border + 6.5-inch design).
