Cast on – We cast on 50 sts on the needle. We need to count the stitches based on the length of the hat, excluding a 2-inch border at the bottom.

Row 28 ( Wrong Side ) – Purl all sts then pick up 14 sts from every edge

Knit 2×2 Rib Stitch Border for Hat
Now we will pick up stitches from each edge of the bottom part of the hat. We’ll pick up one stitch from the first edge and two stitches from the second edge. We will pick up all the stitches in this way. We need to pick up the stitches from the right side. now we have 106 stitches on the needle.
Wrong Side – * P2, K2 * repeat from * to * till end of the row
Right Side – Knit in knit & Purl in purl
We will complete the border by knitting a 2×2 Rib Stitch. Here we have knit 2 inch border for hat.
Bindoff hat using straight needles
Now, we bind off all stitches from the right side using a 9-number straight needle. To do this, start by knitting 2 stitches, then pass the first stitch over the front stitch.
Now we have 2 purl stitches, so we purl one stitch, then pass the back stitch over the front stitch.
Again, purl one stitch, then pass the back stitch over the front stitch. Now we have 2 knit stitches, so we knit one stitch and then pass the back stitch over the front stitch.
Repeat this process and bind off all stitches. When the last stitch is left, cut the yarn and secure it tightly.
After completing the border we will sew the cap. I shared the picture of how can we sew this cap.
