Repeat these two rows to complete the 2-inch border. I have knitted a total of 18 rows.
Cable Stitch Beanie Free Pattern and Instructions
In this beanie, I have included a cable pattern that is a 10-row repeat pattern. To make it, we need to cast on stitches in multiples of 10. Here in the beanie, I have added 4 extra stitches.
Cast on Multiple of 10 + 4 ( edge ) sts.
Row 1 (RS) – SL1 (P), P1,* P1, K2, P4, K2, P1 * repeat from * to * …..last 2 sts P2
Row 2 (WS) – SL1 (P), K1, * K1, P8, K1 * repeat from * to * ………. last 2 sts K1, P1
Row 3 (RS) – Same as row 1
Row 4 (WS) – Same as row 2
Row 5 (RS) – Same as row 1
Row 6 (WS) – Same as row 2
Row 7 (RS) – Same as row 1
Row 8 (WS) – Same as row 2
Row 9 (RS) – SL1 (P), P1, * P1, C4F, C4B, P1 * repeat from * to * ………… last 2 sts P2
Row 10 (WS) – same as row 2
Repeat these 10 rows until the beanie reaches the desired length. For a total length of 9 (2-inch border + 7-inch body) inches, I repeated the pattern 7 times.
How to Bind Off the Cable Knit Beanie
Once the beanie’s length is complete, we will bind off all the stitches of the cap. We have bound off the entire hat in just 4 rows. Keep this in mind while measuring the length of the beanie.
Row 1 (RS) – P1, K2tog, K2tog, K2tog, ……………….. last sts P1
Now I have 58 sts remaining.
Row 2 (WS) – Purl all sts
Row 3 (RS) – P1, K2tog, K2tog, K2tog ……………….. last sts P1
Now I have 30 sts remaining
Row 4 (WS) – Purl all sts
At last take all the remaining 30 sts onto the swing needle, secure them together, and sew the beanie.
Now our beautiful cable knit beanie is ready to wear.
