Knitting Material

Knitting Needles:- 3.75 MM Straight Needles (9 Number)

Knitting Wool:- Worsted Wool (80 Grams)

Optional:- Measuring Tape, Scissor & Sewing Needle.

Knitting Abbreviations

• SL- Slip
• K – Knit
• P – Purl
• STS – Stitches
• RS – Right Side
• WS – Wrong Side
• K2tog – Knit 2 sts together from the front loop.

Sunayana’s Simple Unisex Reversible Hat Knitting Pattern

Skills:- Beginners

Size:- Adults / Unisex

Cast-on:- For this Reversible Hat, 100 stitches are used.

Note:- This Reversible Hat is knitted with worsted wool and size 9 (3.75MM) needles. Therefore, the number of cast-on stitches will differ compared to a regular hat.

Reversible Hat Knitting Pattern

For this hat, you don’t need to knit a border. The hat’s design starts from the first row. The pattern for the design is given below.

Row 1– SL1, * K2, P2 * repeat from * to * ………… last sts P1

Row 2– Same as row 1

Row 3– Same as row 1

Row 4– Same as row 1

Row 5– Same as row 1

Row 6– Same as row 1

Row 7– Same as row 1

Row 8– Same as row 1

Row 9– Same as row 1

Row 10– knit all sts

Row 11– Purl all sts

Row 12– Knit all sts

Row 13– Knit all sts

Row 14– Purl all sts

Row 15– Knit all sts

Row 16– Knit all sts

Row 17– Purl all sts

Row 18– Knit all sts

Repeat rows 1 to 18 three more times. Now our hat is 8 inches long.

Shaping the Hat Crown

Now we will decrease the crown of the hat. The decrease pattern is provided below. We will work these decreases over the next sixteen rows.

Note:- When you decrease the hat, the length will increase by one to two inches during the decreases. Therefore, keep this in mind when determining the length of the hat.

Row 1– SL1, * K2, P2 * repeat from * to * …………… last sts P1

Row 2– Same as row 1

Row 3– Same as row 1

Row 4– Same as row 1

Row 5– SL1, * K2, P2tog * repeat from * to * ………………. last sts P1

Now we have 77 sts on the needle.

Row 6– SL1,  * K1, P2 * repeat from * to * ……………. last sts P1

Row 7– SL1, * K2, P1 * repeat from * to * ……………….. last sts P1

Row 8– Same as row 6

Row 9– SL1, * K2tog, P1 * repeat from * to * ……………… last sts P1

Now we have 52 sts on the needle.

Row 10– SL1, * K1, P1 * repeat from * to * ……………. last sts P1

Row 11– Same as row 10

Row 12– Same as row 10

Row 13– SL1, * K2tog, P2tog * repeat from * to * ……….. last sts P1

Now we have 27 sts on the needle.

Row 14– SL1, * P1, K1 * repeat from * to * ………….. last sts P1

Row 15– SL1, * K1, P1 * repeat from * to *

Row 16– Same as row 14

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pick all the stitches on the swing needle, secure it tightly &
sew the cap.
